Mike Jackson, an honored member of the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, is celebrating his 40th year as an outdoors journalist and broadcaster. In addition to being a seasoned broadcaster, Jackson is a writer for one of Chicagoland's daily newspapers, The Daily Herald. "Mike Jackson Outdoors" radio has been called "the best outdoors show in the country." Mike Jackson is a tell-it-like-it-is sportsman, humorist and humanitarian with legions of fans and listeners. He and co-host Adam Marton talk fishing, hunting, the outdoors, chat with special guests and fishing friends - take calls - and sometimes talk politics.
Not only does Mike Jackson tell his listeners what lakes and rivers in Illinois and the rest of the Midwest are hot, both in the regular soft-water season as well as continuing to “breath fire” when it comes to politicians, especially when it relates to the pols ignoring the great outdoor resources bestowed upon us.
He grew up fishing the Fox Chain; Lake Michigan; and dozens of lakes and rivers throughout the state as well as Wisconsin; Minnesota; Canada; the Arctic; Central and South America, and a lot of Illinois destinations in between.
