Positive Changes

After years of hard work by the Kovas family, their engineers, lawyers, and consultants... the station has DOUBLED its power to 7,000 watts.  This allows for the station to cover a much larger area of Chicago and the surrounding communities.  Our signal now reaches millions and millions of people throughout most of Chicagoland!

New Call Letters

To celebrate the power increase, the new call letters for AM 1590 are now more reflective of the market we serve - WCGO.

God Bless Frank Kovas

The project of increasing the power and coverage area for AM 1590 began many years ago by the late Kovas Communications' patriarch, Frank Kovas.  Frank was a true Chicago radio icon and a genius in the radio industry.  Although Frank did not live to see his dream come true, thanks to the incredible hard work of his wife Connie and her son (who was considered by Frank to be his own son), Joe - and all the help from engineer Dr. Jim White, Charley Hecht, the staff of AM 1590, consultants AirTime Media (Tim Disa & Darrel Peters), the attorneys and countless other people who made this project happen - it happened!

In honor of Frank Kovas, the power increase happened on April 12th, 2009 - which would have been Frank's 87th birthday!  Somewhere up in heaven, Frank is smiling down on his family and friends saying "good work".
